Star Wars Galaxies is a massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) for PCs. Developed by Sony Online Entertainment and published by Lucas Arts, Star Wars Galaxies was released in the U.S. and Canada on June 26, 2003. The Star Wars-themed game allows players to travel through the Star Wars universe and complete battles and missions.

"Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Divided" is the base game. Available for $19.95 from StarWarsShop.com[1] . Most vendors only carry the base game packaged with expansion packs.

But Nick Yee[3] , a PhD student at Stanford studying "immersive virtual reality," cites that many players are "vehemently against the sale of virtual goods for real life money."
Strategy guides such as "Star Wars Galaxies: The Complete Guide" by Prima, can assist you with game playing and strategies. The guide can be purchased for $14.39 Walmart.com[4] .
Several expansion packs have been released for the game, providing more features and in-depth game playing. "Jump to Lightspeed" was released in the U.S. and Canada on October 27, 2004. This expansion is available with the base game in "The Complete Online Adventures" package. The second expansion, "Rage of the Wookies" was released in the U.S. and Canada on March 9, 2005, and is available for $25. "Trials of Obi-Wan" was released in the U.S. and Canada on November 1, 2005, and is available for $30 as a digital download from Sony.

The base game and the expansion packs can be purchased in a package, which is a better deal than purchasing each game individually. The most complete package is "Star Wars Galaxies: The Complete Online Adventures", which includes Star Wars Galaxies and all of the expansion packs for $30. The package also comes with a DVD of bonus features and a slide show of Star Wars Galaxies art. "The Complete Online Adventures" can be purchased for $18 from J&R Music and Computer World, or $20 from Target[5] .
