There are about 15 3-D LCD computer monitors now on the market, ranging in cost from $270-$400. The screen sizes come in either a 22" or 23" diagonal. The more popular brands and those who first came to market with a 3-D monitor include Samsung, Acer, Asus and Alienware. Viewsonic and LG also have their own offerings.
For example, Samsung's 2233RZ[1] is a 22" LCD 3-D-Ready monitor that costs about $330.
Acer's 3-D offering is the 23.6" G Series GD235HZ monitor that costs about $409. Other models include Viewsonic's 22" VX2268wm[2] ($270), the Asus 23" VG236[3] (about $350) and the Alienware OptX AWS2310 23" 3-D monitor ($400).
To use these 3-D monitors effectively, an Nvidia 3-D Vision Kit[4] is required to properly outfit a computer to transmit and view 3-D images on a 3-D monitor. The kit costs $150.
The Nvidia 3-D Vision Kit includes one pair of 3-D active shutter glasses, an IR transmitter, a stereo audio cable, a 10' DVI to HDMI cable and a USB cable. Additional specific computer system requirements can be found on Nvidia's own list of required features.
Each of these 3-D monitors includes a DVI digital cable, power cable and owner's manual.
There are some bundle packages which include both the 3-D monitor and the Nvidia 3-D Vision Kit together that can provide some additional savings.
For example, Nvidia offers a bundle[5] that includes the 3-D kit, Samsung's 2233RZ 3-D monitor and a digital copy of James Cameron's Avatar 3-D game for about $600.
Newegg.com's bundle[6] includes the Asus VG236 3-D monitor, the 3-D vision kit and a three-year warranty for $500.
