Typical costs:

• $19.99 to download the base game from Sony or Gamestop. You can also purchase a game installation disc of the base game, EverQuest II: Classic for around $9.99 at EB Games or Amazon[2] .
• After installing the game, you will need to purchase an online subscription to play. Subscriptions cost $14.99 a month or $77.99 for six months.
• Game play requires high-speed Internet access.

• Digital downloads come only with the software. Store-bought game installation discs come with a game manual.
• Operating system requirements: Windows 98SE or later.

• Adventure Packs and Expansion Packs expand game play and add depth to the EverQuest II online virtual world. Adventure Packs are smaller expansions to the game, and include a new story line, several new zones and new items and creatures. The current Adventure Packs available are: The Bloodline Chronicles"[3] ($4.99), "The Splitpaw Saga"[4] ($7.99), and "The Fallen Dynasty"[5] ($7.99).
• Expansion Packs introduce many new plots and areas, new game features, items, creatures, and sometimes a new player race. They cost $30-$40 each and are available at Sony.com[6] .
• Players can buy and sell EverQuest II goods on Sony's Station Exchange[7] , which provides secure player-to-player transactions of characters, items, and coin, usually through auctions. The prices vary depending on how hard it is to obtain the item or how high the level is of the character.
• Strategy guides such as the Prima Official EverQuest II Game Guide are available from Prima Games for $9.99. The Prima EverQuest II Atlas is available at Amazon[8] for $13.59.

• Free strategy guides are available online at MMODB[9] and ZAM[10] .

• Two free 7-day trials of EverQuest II are available for EverQuest II: Trial of the Isle" and "EverQuest II: Play the Fae"[11] . No credit card or subscription is required to play these trial games."
• The EverQuest II Collector's Edition[12] comes with the base game, bonus DVD, art book and cloth map and is available at Amazon for $19.97.
